About Award Medals

Award Medals have been licensed medallists for over 30 years and, since 2017, produce and issue 29 unique commemorative medals to UK servicemen and veterans.

They are one of the largest suppliers of British military themed gifts, and offer a unique service to mount and display medals. In 2017, they approached InSynch for help with developing a new website.

The Client’s Aim:

Award Medals approached us in 2017 to project manage the redevelopment of their website. They wanted a website robust enough to host hundreds of products and services, and easy for their customer base to use. There was a strong emphasis on improving their overall digital marketing strategy, using their new website as the focal point for these efforts.

Once website development was underway, we implemented a sophisticated digital marketing strategy designed to bring real results. The following is what we agreed to do on AWARD’s behalf:

  • Consultation on the development of a new website optimised for sales and enquiries
  • Setup & management of pay-per-click ads for highly-converting search terms
  • Search engine optimisation to increase visibility of their products online
  • Cultivating an email marketing audience for remarketing

What We Achieved

The new Award Medals website published on schedule with a strong start. Thanks to our efforts, monthly sales on the new website doubled over the sales recorded on the older website. AWARD are a success, and they continue to use us to provide digital marketing services across the scope of their business.

We initially gave input in terms of digital marketing strategies to put in place on both the old site and the one in development, before it went live. We trained staff in house to undertake email marketing work and undertook other activities such as Facebook advertising, popups, email marketing and a larger focus on PPC advertising. As time went on, we took over these aspects of their marketing.

Website Development & Optimisation

The new website had to be easy to navigate, easy to use, and optimised for search engines. Award Medals were using an external website design agency, and brought us on board to ensure the developers made a website optimised for sales – function as well as form.

We provided an initial consultancy session and then created a detailed website specification document for procurement purposes that would meet the needs of the company. As the website was developed, we provided weekly consultancy and support by email and phone in order to go over what work had progressed and what needed to be implemented in the website development.

PPC Ads

Award Medals were running a set of pay-per-click ads and were finding success with them. Initially, we provided training to their staff with advice on how to refine these ads for higher returns at lower costs, and ensuring the advertising did not go offline during the website crossover period.

Our expertise showed, and we were given full control to manage paid ads on their behalf. We set up successful Google Shopping Ads, Facebook remarketing ads, and we continue to further refine other Google Ads campaigns. One year after AWARD joined us, revenue from paid ads increased by 136%!

SEO

When developing a new website, its search engine rankings can take a nosedive if no preventative actions are taken. As the new website was being created, we copied through current optimisations to help negate any fall in rankings. As their new website went live, we thoroughly audited new pages and made sure older pages had redirections in place.

Since the website has gone live, we have helped to further improve organic traffic to the site and optimised products for maximum visibility in search engines. Currently, Award Medals have almost 200 keywords in the first page of Google search results!

Email Marketing

Through our consultation on the new website, we advised on the best way to encourage sign-ups to Award Medals newsletter, and how to best deliver marketing materials to this customer base. We helped generate segmented audiences of purchasers and people yet to make a purchase.

The results speak for themselves. We now manage the majority of AWARD’s email marketing efforts. And one year since joining, website traffic from emails increased by 48%. Better yet, emails grew from Award Medals fourth-largest source of revenue to its second!
